Get to know Carlene Behmer

Carlene Behmer received her Bachelor of Music from Western Illinois University with a major in Music Education. She was a member of the Iowa All-State Orchestra (1967) and The Fort Bend

Symphony Orchestra (1996-2003). She has performed with The Lone Star Symphonic Band, Lone Star Dixieland Band, Houston Symphonic Band, Houston Concert Band, The University of Houston-Downtown Jazz Ensemble, The Touch of Brass Quintet, Tallowood Baptist Jazz Ensemble, the John E. Dyson Big Band, the Woody Witt Big Band and The Aubrey Tucker Band.

Ms. Behmer taught Orchestra in Alief ISD for thirteen years and recently completed her fourteenth year as Orchestra Director at Memorial Parkway Junior High, Katy ISD and is now retired.

She is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association and Mu Phi Epsilon music sorority and The International Trombone Association.
