About Carol Porter
Get to know Carol Porter
Hi!--I'm Carol Porter. You might know me from my past work in professional audio and keyboards. I've since returned to my original work as a piano teacher and I'm excited about Music & Arts. I look forward to engaging and dynamic lessons at The Lesson Studio. I can hardly wait to meet you and I hope to see you soon!
Carol Porter has combined her background in piano performance with her knowledge of music history, music education and 20th century composition to become one of the leading supporters of her students, fellow independent artists and colleagues. She exhibits her ability to work with colleagues and senior management and brings to the table her ability to think outside the box.
Carol has authored a journal article on Music Making & Wellness in the 21st Century, hosted her own podcasts The CMajor Radio Show and CMajor Before The Show. She recently announced a developing project entitled Beyond The Purple Dot, a piano method (not a book) and student's guide to their own music making.
Most recently, Carol completed her certificate requirements for The Teaching Arts Certificate Program at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2020. As part of this co-hort, Carol is trained to work in environments that require cultural responsiveness and a deeper understanding of technology and artistic practice.
Carol's music has been heard on online radio and various internet networks. Her teachers were from Juilliard, Columbia University and Curtis Institute of Music backgrounds. Carol has performed live as an independent artist, a classically trained pianist and on network television. She found her calling as a private one-to-one piano teacher after working extensively with students' creative, cognitive and personal development through music making. Her personal goals are to further contribute to the music field in writing, teaching and online content. Using a more pragmatic approach to learning has worked well for Carol.
Carol's professional goals in addition to recording, performing and remote teaching include becoming an editor of a music magazine, contributing more online articles, interviews, blog posts, webinars and critical reviews in well-known publications for piano study.
