Performance Experience: Underwood has played in ensembles since her first orchestra class in 1997. From then she has played in orchestras from school to university. In 2008, Underwood attended the International Summer Music Academy in Thessalonica, Greece, and spring 2009, Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea. Underwood was active in the Dekalb Symphony Orchestra from around 2012- 2018 playing in both the violin and viola sections. Underwood has also been in various ensembles and bands including a French cabaret band.
Teaching Experience: Underwood has taught professionally since 2006 both in the home and the studio. Underwood has taught various styles of music with each of her instruments. She has taught with various companies across the city over the years.
Teaching Philosophy: Everyone has the capacity to learn, it's just how much you want to learn.
Get to know Carol Underwood
Underwood has been playing instruments since the age of five, and understands on a personal level why music education is so important for personal growth. She is very creative with her art, and has tried various forms of playing.
This has been from large ensemble play to improv soloing during a fashion show. She attended Georgia State University from 2006-2010. She also attended Hanyang University in the spring of 2009 learning music composition and
traditional Korean Geomungo. She also has a great deal of experience playing church music and ensembles. In 2013, Underwood was the Interim Music Director at Clairmont Presbyterian Church. From 2010-2014, Underwood attended
Columbia Theological Seminary and earned a Masters in Divinity and a Master of Arts in Practical Theology. She explored the depths of church music and participated in numerous practical applications of music in worship.
She loves everything from Mozart to KPop and loves to teach students to play their favorite song.
