      Education: B.A. in Performing Arts with a focus in Classical Saxophone from Clemson University, M.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music
      Performance Experience: Charlie has performed in 60-piece symphonic bands, saxophone quartets, solo saxophone recitals, chamber ensembles, 360-piece marching bands, small jazz combos, 18-piece jazz big bands, trad-jazz groups, brass bands, theater pit bands, quartets with jazz harp, and pop, rock, funk, and blues gigging ensembles. He performed with the 2022 Disneyland All-American College Band as lead tenor and featured soloist, and at Kings Island in a 70s music revue show band on tenor saxophone.
      Teaching Experience: 8 years of private instruction on various instruments and topics, 4 years of marching band woodwind instruction, 2 years of collegiate conservatory teaching in saxophone, jazz, and jazz history and leading 7-piece jazz combo and 18-piece jazz big band classes as a graduate-teaching assistant.
      Teaching Philosophy: Joy and curiosity should be at the center of each lesson. Each student is their own person with passions and goals, and I make it my mission to learn about them and give them the approach that best works for them and their own relationship with music. I use my expertise to serve as a guide in the student's musical journey, offering feedback, encouragement, and structure to make their growth as efficient and joyful as possible.

      Get to know Charlie Brooks-Knepfle

      Charlie has been performing in various styles for over a decade. He wears many hats, having experience performing professionally in classical, jazz, funk, blues, commercial, and other genres with joy, passion, and dedication to excellence and curiosity. He has degrees in classical and jazz saxophone, and lived the marching band life for 6 years, serving as a leader and mentor at each stop of his journey. Charlie loves people and music, always extending words of invitation and warmth to newcomers, making sure that everyone understands their worth and the vast contribution they bring to any environment purely by being themselves. Charlie was a member of the final iteration of the highly renowned Disneyland All-American College Band as lead tenor saxophone and featured soloist, and has performed in various high-level jazz, classical, commercial, rock, and other groups, always bringing energy and love to the stage. In his spare time, Charlie enjoys the NFL, video games, cooking, exploring nature, reading, and spending time with his wife, Elia. He is also a big Disney fan, frequenting the parks and watching any and all Star Wars-related content. Charlie is a newcomer to New York City and is a frequent performer in the various jam sessions across the jazz scene here.
