Performance Experience: As a soloist, Cheryl's performed in the "Mostly Gershwin" 2012 benefit concert at Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church. While at Westminster, she performed in the Symphonic Choir with the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra. She's also performed with "The Living Visions Ensemble" and as soprano and piano soloist at LRPC.
Teaching Experience: Cheryl has been a member of various organizations, including the New Jersey Music Educators Assocation, the Piano Teachers Forum, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Steering Commitee of the Trenton Children's Chorus. She has also adjudicated the Doris Lenz Vocal Competition.
Teaching Philosophy: Music learning must always be an active experience. Whether through private studio instruction, the general music classroom, singing or playing in an ensemble. A student who is actively engaged in learning through his or her own experiences, both young and old, is a student who will learn to integrate musical skills and knowledge in order to achieve mastery. Therefore, pedagogy must include a variety of modalities in addition to the standard practice of music method materials.
