Teaching Philosophy:
As a music educator, my philosophy has always circled around teaching life lessons through music. These lessons include active listening, perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and problem solving. I can confidently say that I have successfully achieved my goal in teaching these lessons through musical content. As well as having the ability to assess yourself. I believe that self-assessing your own craft as a musician is such a great skill to develop as a professional but also for students.

Christian McClay teaches trumpet for beginner to advanced students. His encouraging, patient, and detail-oriented lessons balance technique, musicianship, and enjoyment while adapting to each student's pace, interests, and goals. In lessons with Christian, students can explore classical, jazz, and orchestral music while developing improvisation. Christian encourages students to become confident, thoughtful, and increasingly independent musicians. He supports preparation for recitals, auditions, and playing for enjoyment, as well as music-making for personal fulfillment. Christian brings professional certification to his teaching.
