Get to know Cory Grant
Cory has spent the past fifteen years as a freelance educator and gigging musician in western New York. His performance and academic experiences are very diverse .After graduating from high school in 2005, He began his academic pursuit of music at SUNY Fredonia. He now holds concurrent degrees in music business (BS) and applied percussion (BA). He is a Master’s candidate for a masters in music performance at Youngstown State University. During ten years in academia, he performed with concert and symphonic bands, orchestra, accompanied choirs, African Drumming, and of course percussion ensemble. His most notable academic collaborations include performing with the Chautauqua Symphony, and playing drum set with world renowned jazz vibraphonist Joe Locke.Western New York has a rich and diverse music scene that Cory is proud to be a part of. He is the former resident percussionist for the The Fredtown Stompers, a regional dixieland jazz group. He is also a part of the American music cover project The Creatures of Habit.Notable collaborations include:Dave Morgan (jazz professor at Youngstown State University)Ron Corsaro (founder of the Lewiston Jazz Festival)
Notable performances:Percussionist in Darien Lake’s 2008 production of RythymnicityPercussionist in the New Castle Playhouse’s 2011 production or State Fair by Rodgers and Hammerstein
