Performance Experince: Many years of big band and jazz combo work, bandleader on a Tennessee Riverboat, Lawrence Welk road tours, many national shows and pit work, orchestral and classical ensembles, blues and swing bands.
Local gigs with area big bands, blues bands, rock bands, and a jazz quartet.
Teaching Experience: Decades of Private Teaching in Rochester as well as San Jose, California and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Additionally, Jazz Improvisation instructor at the New Mexico Jazz Workshop. Adjunct faculty at University of the South and University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Teaching Philosphy: There are many ways to climb the mountain and no two students learn the same way. I like to let the student lead the way as much as possible and I provide guidance, suggestions, resources, and support every step of the way. Because happiness is indeed skill in action!
