About Dan Costello

Hey! My name is Dan Costello and I'm a musician. I play drums, piano and bass and I'm also a singer. I've been writing, performing and producing music since I was a teenager. I graduated from Purchase College and I've had the opportunity to play and write with incredible musicians throughout my life so far.

As a drummer I've always been fascinated with Prog bands (specifically Genesis, Rush and Yes) that have shaped me as a musician and as a person. As a pianist, I have Ben Folds to thank and as a singer, my gratitude goes to Steven Wilson- whose project Porcupine Tree became the official shape of Prog Metal. Producing electronic music was possible thanks to the incredible efforts of Japanese producers and singers emerging from anime culture.

I love teaching confidence and intelligence as well as musical skill as I find these are related and often come together. I find joy in music theory as well but skill truly comes from the individual and guiding that process has been throughout my many years of teaching a true pleasure.
