About Dave Prieto

Dave Prieto is a guitar teacher who works with students from beginner to professional levels, combining technique, music theory, and practical application to help students become confident, expressive musicians. His lessons emphasize blues, classic rock, jazz, jazz fusion, and bebop while developing improvisation, soloing, phrasing, composition, and a deep understanding of music theory. Dave believes students should start making music immediately, introducing songs and basic soloing concepts from the very first lesson to keep learning enjoyable and motivating. Whether preparing for recitals, school jazz bands, college auditions, music scholarships, or professional performance, students receive personalized guidance tailored to their goals. Dave has taught professionally since 1983, has released four recordings, and has performed with acclaimed jazz artists including Akira Tana, Larry Hancock, and James Levi.
