About Desiree Gattis

Education: Florida State University Stetson University

Performance Experience: Freelance Performing and Professional Organizations: Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Chamber Ensembles, Sigma Alpha Iota Professional Music Fraternity, Freelance Contract Musician Studied with Dr. Frank Kowalsky, Dr. Lynn Musco, Dr. Ashley Heintzen, Mr. Anthony Hose, and Dr. Bobby Adams.

Teaching Experience: Ms. Gattis has been with Music & Arts since 2009, starting her career as a private instructor in 2003. Ms. Gattis earned a Bachelor of Music from Stetson University, and pursued graduate studies at both the masters and doctoral level at Florida State University. She continues to enjoy performing as a freelance artist and clinician all over the southeast United States. Her students have gone on to pursue careers in music at schools such as FSU, New England Conservatory, & Eastman School of Music.

Teaching Philosophy: Philosophy: Each student is unique with their own strengths, experiences, interests, & educational needs. Ms. Gattis' goal is to guide every student on their musical journey in a way that is both enjoyable & valuable to the student. Ages 3+ & adults. Extensive experience working with children with Autism & Sensory Processing Disorders. All it takes is a little creativity, a lot of experience, & an open mind to help every student succeed in ways that they themselves find highly rewarding.
