Get to know Donald McCleary
Mr. McCleary has 45 years of experience in teaching violin, viola, cello and string bass through both private lessons and within the public school system. Mr. McCleary retired from full time teaching in 2009 after 38 years at the Marple Newtown School District in Delaware County, PA. He taught violin, viola, cello and string bass for grades 3 through 12. Mr. McCleary has also offered private studio lessons since 1976 in Newtown Square, PA. Some of the achievements of Mr. McCleary's private lesson students include audition winners for solo performance and participation in:
- Orchestras of Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA at levels of District 12, Regional, State & National
- Young Musicians Orchestra of Delaware County
- Reading Youth Symphony
- Philadelphia Youth Orchestra
Some of Mr. McCleary's students have gone on to study at Julliard School of Music in NYC, Temple School of Music in Philadelphia and Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Some former students have played with the NY Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
