About Doug Ortner

Doug Ortner teaches beginner to intermediate woodwinds and brass up to 12th grade academic level, including recorder, flute, clarinet (soprano, bass), saxophone (alto, tenor, bari), oboe, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, and trombone. His encouraging, patient, and flexible lessons balance technique, musicianship, and enjoyment while adapting to each student's pace, interests, and goals. Students can explore jazz and marching music while developing music theory. Doug emphasizes positive reinforcement and encourages students to become confident, thoughtful, and increasingly independent musicians. He supports preparation for recitals, auditions, and school music programs, as well as music-making for personal fulfillment. He brings professional certification to his teaching.
