Get to know Ed Taylor
Ed studied Music Education at Immaculata University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree. Upon graduation, Ed continued his passion for music and instruments by pursuing a career as a Band Director / General Music Teacher in either an elementary, middle school, or high school setting.
He has an extensive background in music education, receiving his high school diploma from Council Rock South High School located in Holland, PA in June of 2015 where he was an active member of Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Jazz Lab Band, Concert Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and Symphonic Choir.
Then, receiving an Associate of Arts in Music at Bucks County Community College located in Newtown, PA in May of 2018 where he was also an active member of the Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Choir. Afterwards, Ed was a member of the Trombone Ensemble, Marching Band, Symphony Band at Indiana University of Pennsylvania located in Indiana, PA while continuing his degree in Music Education from 2018 -2020.
It was not until Fall of 2020 when Ed was accepted into Immaculata University’s Music Education Program where he received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education in May 2023. Immaculata University is where he not only excelled as a member of the Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Choir but Ed also served in leadership roles as the Secretary of the Immaculata Music Education Club and became a collegiate representative for District 12 of PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators Association) which serves Chester, Delaware, and Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania. In addition to his music instruction in a higher education setting, Ed also received private lessons over the years in trombone from instructors including Ronald Evans, Scott Cullen, Christian Dickinson, Brendan Hartz, Mark Capriotti, and Fred Scott.
Ed has had exciting opportunities to gain first-hand experience in the classroom and extracurricular music opportunities. These opportunities include the following: Assistant Marching Band Director at Riverview Jr. / Sr. High School in Oakmont, PA, Marching Band Instructor at Council Rock South High School in Holland, PA, and Assistant Marching Band Director at William Tennent High School. Ed substituted regularly in the Central Bucks School District located in Doylestown, PA from He served as a Long-Term Substitute teaching General Music / Elementary Band at Kent County Public Schools in Rock Hall, Maryland for the 2023- 2024 school year. Currently, Ed serves as the General Music Teacher / Elementary Band Director at Long Neck Elementary School in Millsboro, Delaware.
When Ed is not instructing marching bands or teaching in the classroom, he has enjoyed performing with various local music groups including the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps, the Temple University Community Band, the Pennsbury Community Band, and the Philadelphia Area Trombone Christmas Choir, Hawthrone Caballeros Drum & Bugle Corps, Rehoboth Beach Concert Band, Mary Mother of Peach Church Chorus and Bell Choir. In addition, he provides private music lessons at Music & Arts in Lewes, Delaware.
