Erin Pack: A Virtuoso of Strings and Scholarship
Erin began her musical journey with a focus on the violin but quickly gained recognition for her proficiency on the viola leading to performances on both instruments. Throughout her early career she established herself as a competitive violist performing with the Maryland Youth Symphony Orchestra, Howard County GT orchestras, Bryn Mawr Strings Camp, and Junior and Senior All-State Orchestras. In high school she pursued viola lessons and chamber music coaching at the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore, MD.
In 2005, Erin was honored as a Linehan Artist Scholar at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) for her combination of academic excellence and artistic expression. While earning her Bachelor of Arts in Viola Performance and Musicology, she actively participated in a diverse range of music ensembles spanning chamber music, Gamelan, Collegium Musicum, and modern music. She dedicated significant time to the UMBC Symphony Orchestra in roles as both principal violist and orchestra librarian. In addition to her orchestral contributions, she helped found the UMBC Quartet as their violist.
Post graduation, Erin joined Mike’s Music in Ellicott City as a violin and viola instructor while also performing as a freelance musician throughout the Baltimore/DC area. Notable performances include those at the Library of Congress as a 2010 Junior Fellows Intern and the 2015 Iberian Suite Festival at the Kennedy Center in collaboration with the Arte Institute.
With over a decade of teaching experience, Erin brings an enthusiastic and approachable demeanor to music education. She prioritizes enjoyment while fostering strong technique and solid musicianship. Erin specializes in chamber and orchestral music, audition training, and competitions. In addition to classical music, she enjoys exploring modern genres and game and film scores.
In her personal time, Erin loves spending time with her family which includes her two sweet, and according to her, “most brilliant” cats, knitting, video gaming, and gardening.
