About Ethan Reinking
Get to know Ethan Reinking
Ethan Reinking’s first instrument was the violin, which he started playing in elementary school and continued through high school. He picked up the guitar at the beginning of high school and was inspired by a broad range of music including artists such as the Beatles, The Kinks, George Benson and Wes Montgomery. After hearing the Glenelg Jazz Band he set his sights on mastering his instrument and tackling a new genre of music. Ethan was a member of the Glenelg High School Jazz Band for his junior and senior year. He graduated high school in 2006. Undecided with what he wanted to pursue, Ethan spent a couple of years at Howard Community College (HCC) and quickly became immersed in their music program. While at HCC he studied with Kyle Coughlin, Alan Blackman, and Michael Raitzyk. His love for jazz propelled him to The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University where he studied under Paul Bollenback, Gary Thomas, and Alex Norris. He received a Bachelors in Jazz Guitar Performance. In the past couple of years he has picked up the banjo and the lap steel. Ethan enjoys teaching privately and performing regularly in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area.
