About Ms. Skains

Gabriella Skains was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, where she started to play violin at the age of 7. She continued throughout school and graduated from Kodaly Conservatory. She came to the United States at the age of 20 and after her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from Cedarville College, she earned a Masters’ Degree in Violin Performance at Ohio University. She performed in several local orchestras in Ohio and West Virginia along with a professional string quartet, playing for weddings and events in the Cleveland area. She received her Suzuki training from Capital University in Columbus and started the Suzuki Violin Program at the Athens Community Music School for ages 3-7. She went on to teach private lessons for school age - adults in several music studios and high schools, eventually in her own private studio. She also started a Suzuki Violin Program at International Preparatory School recruiting 90 students. The last 19 years she has been teaching in the Cleveland Public Schools where currently she has a violin group class for 20 students.
