      About Hunter Luhman

      Hunter Luhman
      Hunter Luhman
      Music Teacher, Professional
      Location: Arlington , TX
      Speaks: English
      Instructs: Baritone, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba
Education: Hunter is in his final year at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he will be receiving a performance degree in trombone. In his time at school, he studied under many phenomenal trombonists like Dennis Bubert, Fort Worth Symphony Bass Trombonist, and Jacob Muzquiz, Principal Trombone of the Dallas Opera.
Performance Experience: Over 11 years of playing trombone, Hunter has performed hundreds of gigs with several ensembles. Most notably, the UTA jazz orchestra, which was invited to perform at TMEA in front of thousands of Texas students and more. Most recently, Hunter collaborated with the Maynard Ferguson All-Star Jazz Band. Hunter has also performed on a variety of instruments, such as playing sousaphone in collaboration with Wycliffe Gordon, euphonium (baritone) at Oktoberfest, and tuba for a couple of concerts.
Teaching Experience: Starting in 2021, Hunter began teaching trombone to the students attending his former high school who couldn't pay for regular lessons but needed help on all-region music. After a while, Hunter began picking up new students who wanted to play in the college jazz band or even students older than him wanting to keep playing as a hobby.
Teaching Philosophy: For Hunter, music is about expression and communication. Music allows us to release whatever is pent up inside and share that with a friend or even 50 friends. The most enjoyable moments in a musician's life is when they are playing what they love to play with the people they love playing that music with. The best way to communicate these ideas is to provide an encouraging environment for mistakes and loud sounds.
