About Jake Everett
Get to know Jake Everett
Jake's love for music was quite apparent from a very young age. Beginning in 3rd grade with private violin lessons, he began learning as many instruments as he could get his hands on. From there, Jake learned to play most instruments found in an winds ensemble. Trombone was his favorite, and so he made that his primary instrument. Throughout junior and senior high school, Jake has the honor of playing in the All-County Concert Band, Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. In 2014, he became the first student from his high school since 1988 to win a spot in the All-State Honors Band and the All-Eastern Honors Band.
After he graduated high school, Jake was as a freelance musician for 5 years. During this time he performed with or held staff positions with a plethora of theater pit orchestras, jazz bands, and entertainment corporations throughout CNY. Since 2008, Jake has performed with the following ensembles (in no particular order): The Empire Statesmen Drum & Bugle Corps, The White Sabers Drum and Bugle Corps, Brig Juice Brass, The Hitmen Brass Band, Prime Time Brass, Vortex Winds, the Jordan-Elbridge HS Marching Band, the Jordan-Elbridge Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Nik and the Nice Guys and the Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra. He has held instructional staff positions with Horseheads HS, Jordan-Elbridge HS, Victor HS, and the White Sabers Drum and Bugle Corps.
In February, 2019, Jake won a position with the Marine Corps as a Trombone Instrumentalist. He left for boot camp in January of 2020 and was stationed in New Orleans from August, 2020, until January 5th, 2024. Jake participated in hundreds of performances as a Marine. He even traveled to South America for performances in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Cartagena, Columbia, in 2022 and 2023. Now home in Rochester with his fiancée, Catherine, Jake is earning his B.A. in Trombone Performance.
