James Fair is a pianist and educator whose artistry is rooted in both rigorous scholarship and vibrant collaborative performance. In high school at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, he studied under Vera Watson, an accomplished concert pianist and distinguished pedagogue whose mentorship helped shape his technical foundation and artistic sensitivity. A graduate of Jacksonville University, he earned his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance summa cum laude, where he studied with Dr. Scott Watkins, a pianist within the historic Liszt lineage, grounding his training in a performance tradition that emphasizes tonal depth, structural clarity, and expressive command. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Music Education at the University of Florida. Faculty at Jacksonville University have noted James’s exceptional preparation, thoughtful engagement in musicological discourse, and fearless embrace of artistic challenges—qualities that reflect a musician equally committed to scholarship and performance.
