to approach each student with patience & encouragement. The exercises I work on with students are direct links to improving their senses of rhythm, harmony, and melody. The stronger the musical foundation, the more comfortable the student is at playing music.
Get to know James Grillo
James Grillo teaches beginner to advanced piano and guitar, as well as beginner ukulele, helping students build strong musical foundations through music they enjoy. His structured, patient lessons develop technique, improvisation, song structure, and musical expression while encouraging students to explore their own musical tastes. James teaches classical, jazz, blues, rock, metal, and pop, using approachable repertoire and creative variations to develop confident, independent musicianship. He prepares students for school performances, public performances, or simply playing for enjoyment. James holds a B.A. in Piano Performance from the University of New Hampshire and has 30 years of piano and 23 years of guitar experience.
