Get to know James Wallace
Guitar instructor James Wallace is known for his patience, versatility and expertise. He strives to make lessons fun and rewarding. And he designs lesson plans to accommodate individual student goals. James welcomes beginner, intermediate and advanced students.
James teaches all ages. Presently, his youngest student is 7 years old and his oldest student is 84. (A few of James' students have been meeting with him weekly for more than 20 years!)
James teaches all styles, including jazz, blues, classical, rock, pop, country and fingerstyle guitar. He also teaches ukulele and beginning bass guitar.
James has been playing guitar for more than four decades and teaching nearly that long as well. His jazz teachers have included Gene Bertoncini, Peter Bernstein and Harry Leahey. His classical teachers have included Paul Tomey, James Reid and Christopher Parkening. James has a B.A. from the University of Virginia. He has done post-graduate work in jazz guitar at the Eastman School of Music. (He also has an M.B.A. from Rutgers.)
