Get to know James Wilson
James A. Wilson Jr. is a native of Chesapeake, Virginia and has served as a music educator since 1991. Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Grambling State University with a Bachelor of Science in Choral and Instrumental Music and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University. His accolades over the years consist of winning more than three hundred and fifty awards and trophies. Mr. Wilson has also been called upon to adjudicate at music festivals, has guest conducted for several district all-city bands, and facilitated many high school clinics. He served as a pilot teacher for the Remo Drum Corporation and helped develop the World Percussion Curriculum published by Warner Brothers. Currently Mr. Wilson is the Director of Bands and Fine Arts Department Chairman at The Rice School in Houston Texas. Mr. Wilson also performs as a percussionist with the Bayou City Brass Band as well as other groups traveling the country. Mr. Wilson is a devoted husband of thirty-two years to Mrs. Tisha M. Wilson and a proud father of two.
