      Education: BA in Music, Thomas Edison State University, Undergraduate courses at The Juilliard School, Courses towards a Masters in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, Courses towards a Masters in Elementary Education at Manhattanville College. Ms. Geidel grew up in a family of professional musicians and teachers and then studied violin, viola, and piano privately with great artists in NYC, such as Carlo Renzulli, 1st violinist in the NY Philharmonic Orchestra, and many others.
      Performance Experience: Pianist in "Combo America", a South American cumbia band, recorded 2 albums, night clubs in the tri-state area, tour of Santa Cruz, Bolivia; First violinist Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company in NJ; Second violinist Centre Symphony in NYC; Alto voice at St. Phillip Neri Church services, Bronx; Soprano voice in Vincent LaSelva's chorus, performed two years at Carnegie Hall. Virtual concerts with Manhattanville College Chorus, The Socially Distant Orchestra, and New Conductors Orchestra.
      Teaching Experience: Ms. Geidel has taught violin, viola, piano and flute in her studio for decades. She taught at Sacred Heart School, Greenwich CT, 2014-18 and Ossining School of Music 1986-88. In 2013-14 she taught piano to special education students in Pleasantville, NY school district. She has taught remotely on Skype, Zoom, and FaceTime long before it became fashionable. Students receive high grades on exams (NYSSMA, ABRSM) and get accepted into competitive orchestras (All-County, GWYOA).
      Teaching Philosophy: I have dedicated my life to music and teaching. I love teaching people of all ages at all levels and want to support every person who has a commitment and a dream to perform music. I educate my students thoroughly with discipline, patience, accuracy, nurturing, encouragement, and goal setting to achieve great results. I believe the student's interests, learning needs, and musical tastes should guide the content of the lessons, and it is important to build upon each person's unique strengths.

      Get to know Jamie Geidel

      Ms. Jamie Geidel is an educator with a passion to share her love of music with others.  For decades, she has given piano, violin, viola, and flute lessons to hundreds of private students of all ages and levels and has taught ensembles in her studio and organized numerous student concerts at libraries (1-2 times annually at Mt. Pleasant Public Library), schools, and other venues. Currently she is enjoying great success with remote teaching (fully remote since 2020), having had years of experience using Skype, Zoom, and FaceTime to deliver instruction. Students continue to get high grades in music exams and get accepted into competitive orchestras. Ms. Geidel has worked in the field of Learning Psychology in instructional methods based on the science of how the brain works, and she creatively applies methods she has developed to bring out each individual's unique talents and strengths. Her lessons are custom tailored to each person, whether you are a child or adult, beginner or advanced player, aspiring professional or hobbyist.  Ms. Geidel also has a passion for learning foreign languages and has learned to converse, read, and write in Italian, Spanish, Modern Greek and Russian, and is currently learning Mandarin. She gives music lessons in English and Spanish.
