Education: BA in Music, Thomas Edison State University, Undergraduate courses at The Juilliard School, Courses towards a Masters in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, Courses towards a Masters in Elementary Education at Manhattanville College. Ms. Geidel grew up in a family of professional musicians and teachers and then studied privately with great artists in NYC, such as Carlo Renzulli, 1st violinist in the NY Philharmonic Orchestra, and many others.

Performance Experience: Professional experience as a violinist, pianist, and vocalist in orchestras, choral groups, and dance bands, with performances at venues including Carnegie Hall, as well as national and international performances.

Teaching Experience: Over five decades of teaching children, teens, and adults at all levels. Former faculty at Sacred Heart School (Greenwich, CT) and Ossining School of Music (Ossining, NY). Extensive experience teaching students with diverse learning needs. Specialized in online music instruction for many years before it became fashionable. Students consistently earn high grades on NYSSMA and ABRSM exams and are accepted into competitive youth orchestras and college music programs.

Teaching Philosophy: I have dedicated my life to music and teaching. I love teaching people of all ages at all levels and want to support every person who has a commitment and a dream to perform music. I educate my students thoroughly with discipline, patience, accuracy, nurturing, encouragement, and goal setting to achieve great results. I believe the student's interests, learning needs, and musical tastes should guide the content of the lessons, and it is important to build upon each person's unique strengths.

I’m Jamie, and I guide beginners, advanced students, and returning adults. I’ll clarify what to practice, why it works, and how you can improve efficiently.

Learn to play music you love on an instrument you love!

I will show you how to break down any challenge into workable, manageable steps. You will train reflexes so playing feels easier and more secure. Strong, automatic technique will allow you to focus on enjoying and expressing the music.

Practical strategies for managing performance anxiety are built into lessons. Returning adults are supported at their own pace, with full respect for prior experience.

Students often start as beginners, excel in their school orchestras, then move up the levels in NYSSMA and ABRSM exams and enter youth orchestras and college programs. Students have been consistently successful on this path, with some eventually performing at venues such as Lincoln Center in NYC.

I teach throughout the week, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and many holidays. Some time slots available.
