About Jan

Jan Gonzales is a clarinetist with the Piedmont Community Band and The Closet Clarinet Ensemble.  She began playing the clarinet at age 10, and by the time she was a senior in high school, she knew she wanted a career in teaching music. 

    Before coming to North Carolina in 2017, she was a member of the Atlantic Wind Symphony, The West Wynd Clarinet Ensemble and teacher at The Royal Academy for Music. 

     She takes great joy in teaching others how to play the clarinet.  With her enthusiastic, kind and patient attitude, she strives to make the lesson experience fun and motivating while still being educational.  She loves watching her student’s progress!

     Whether playing in a band, solo, or listening to your favorite song, music brings everyone on a magical, emotional journey. I think it's important to have music to be able to express deep emotion; good, bad, or otherwise and feel the stress leave your body as the sounds take over your whole being.
