Education: Trombone Performance (BM) from the University of Houston with many extra hours of study in music education courses and performance groups and currently working towards a Master of Music Education at the University of Florida.
Performance Experience: Aiken Symphony Orchestra, Peninsula Concert Band, Eighth Army Military Band, Category V Brass Quintet, Wichi Camacho Latin Band, Victory North Stompers New Orleans Style Jazz, Pro Bono Trombone Quartet.
Teaching Experience: Labay Middle School, Langham Creek High School, Spring ISD, Clear Creek ISD, DOD Schools- Korea, Chesapeake Bay localities, Augusta GA, Fox Creek High School, and others. Beginning with teaching one on one lessons up to 50 students per week then continuing to coach professional musicians within the United States Army Band for 22 years. Performed master classes and coaching sessions for school band programs and audiences within many middle and high schools as a performing artist.
Teaching Philosophy: Music Education in the form of individual coaching sessions can enable personal expression at a deep level. Investing time learning an instrument affords opportunities to connect within a larger community of musicians and with daily practice young musicians can open up possibilities to serve in greater capacities as a performing artist for family, friends, local and world class performing groups.
Get to know Jeremy McLeroy
My time as a trombone player began in 1986, with access to professional tutors and excellent band teachers throughout my upbringing, even experiencing early access to the University of Houston trombone choir while in high school, and an excellent experience learning brass pedagogy during my study at the University of Houston. I joined the US Army band as a trombone player with goals to learn every aspect of performing trombone over the course of two decades. Coaching brass players became my passion, and I am inspired to share my skills with new players!
