Education:
Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Bachelor of Arts in History from George Mason University 2013. Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Gifted Education from the University of Virginia 2015. Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona 2018. Kodály Certification completed in July 2025.
Performance Experience:
Jessica has performed in a variety of concerts as a soloist, conductor and choral member since 2004. Most notably performing as a chorus member in Verdi's Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah, and Stravinsky's Les Nos while in grad school at the University of Arizona.
Teaching Experience:
She started teaching guitar classes in 2017 while in grad school at the University of Arizona and began teaching piano classes in 2025. She currently teach piano and guitar classes through my school's PTA program after school. She primarily works with beginners
Teaching Philosophy:
Music is apart of the human experience and anyone can learn an instrument at any age. Learning music is a process that helps devleope and grow the brain in so many ways. It is my job as a teacher to meet my students where they are at to help them learn and grow. I believe in cultivating a life long love of music that my students will hopefully carry with them no matter where life takes them in the future.
Get to know Jessica Berg
Jessica is from Charlottesville, Virginia and music has been a part of her life since she was born as her parents are both musicians. Her youngest memories are of her sitting at her father's feet while he practiced guitar and sang with her mother. Jessica decided to become a music teacher in high school and has been studying piano since 2008 and still takes lessons with her college piano teacher, Dr. Patricia Parker. She began playing guitar in college and started teaching class guitar while in grad school at the University of Arizona. Outside of teaching music Jessica enjoys traveling, lifting at the gym with her friends, going to concerts, and spending time with her family.
