About Jessie Avila
Get to know Jessie Avila
Jessie Avila began his journey learning the guitar at the ripe age of 20, inspired by his friends and the talent that one may obtain through courage, acceptance, perseverance and a willingness to adapt. After 3 short years of learning guitar using books, jamming with friends, backing tracks, and various other learning techniques, Jessie was offered employment as a guitar instructor with Play Hard Music. 6 years of teaching provided Jessie with many advanced techniques about teaching in an easy to comprehend and follow approach. Adapting to each lesson tailor made for the individual student has resulted in a diverse, broad understanding of music. Sadly after 6 years, Play Hard shut its doors and Jessie decided to hit the music scene as front man for a local Houston rock band called "Fair Child". Several years passed and when the band decided it was time to part ways and start families, Jessie continued to pursue music as a solo acoustic song writer. Whilst on the road, Jessie learned from the most talented peers one could be fortunate enough to learn from. Eventually, as luck would have it, his son (who was 11 at this time) would obtain a knack for the drums. They, as father and son, formed a Rock duo (now trio) called "Planet Moon". They still play local Houston gigs to this day. Now, Jessie is a part of the wonderful team of instructors and staff here at Music & Arts and he is ecstatic to mentor you on your musical adventures that lie ahead.
