Get to know Jg Georges
With over 45 years of experience as a professional drummer and educator, John brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to every lesson. His performance background spans television, studio sessions, nightclubs, weddings, and live shows with groups ranging from small ensembles to full big bands—a style especially close to his heart.
He has studied under some of the most respected drummers in the field, including Joe Morello of The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Alan Dawson, Fred Buda of the Boston Pops, Gene Roma, Gary Chaffee, and Joe Hunt at Berklee College of Music. Influenced early on by legends like Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich, his inspiration has continued to grow through exposure to iconic artists such as Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, Max Roach, and many others.
A lifelong learner, John continues to practice daily and encourages the same discipline in his students. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of vision and self-awareness. He believes that without direction, musicians risk falling into limiting habits, and that true growth comes from channeling one’s inner creativity into purposeful expression.
Dedicated to helping students develop their unique voice and musical identity, John strives to inspire and mentor the next generation—passing on the knowledge and spirit of the great musicians who shaped his own journey.
