Performance Experience:
JoAnn McConnell graduated with her bachelors degree in music education at the University of Akron and went on to get her masters degree in percussion performance at the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana. She taught in public schools for 20 years and worked with many marching bands and private students in the area. She currently plays with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic and the Ashland symphony.

JoAnn McConnell is a percussion teacher who works with beginner to advanced students, helping them build strong fundamentals in a supportive and motivating environment. Her lessons combine warm-ups, technique development, and steady skill progression across a variety of musical styles and percussion techniques. JoAnn personalizes instruction to each student’s level, encouraging growth without feeling overwhelming, while helping students prepare for band, solo performances, recitals, and ensemble opportunities. JoAnn has over 20 years of experience as a music educator, holds degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance, and currently performs as principal percussionist with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic.
