About Joanna Kim

Joanna Kim is a guitar teacher who works with students of all levels and styles, including classical, electric, and acoustic fingerstyle guitar. Her lessons balance structure, technique, music theory, and repertoire while creating an engaging environment where students can develop both skill and creativity. Joanna specializes in classical guitar instruction using the Christopher Parkening Guitar Method and also teaches notation reading, electric guitar techniques, acoustic fingerstyle playing, and music theory. She believes students learn best when they enjoy the process and have a voice in their musical journey. Whether preparing for recitals, auditions, competitions, collegiate studies, or personal enjoyment, students receive thoughtful guidance tailored to their goals. Joanna holds a B.S. in Music from Towson University, is a former elementary music teacher, and has earned top honors in multiple music competitions and performances.
