About John Degarmo

Hello! My name is John and I’ve been a guitar player for 14 years and have been teaching for five. I have a passion for sharing knowledge of the instrument. My mission is to inspire, as well as to create a personal, fun, and creative learning environment! There’s been a number of musical groups I’ve been involved with over the years, and am currently the guitarist of a Richmond-based rock band! I’m also a graduate of the Recording Workshop, a recording arts program in Ohio, with a certification in audio recording and music production. In my spare time I like to build/repair guitars and design home recording studios. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with a handful of very talented and experienced music teachers through the years and have picked up on a variety of teaching styles and techniques. My musical inspirations range from classic rock, blues, country, folk, and jazz, but I also love being introduced to new music by my students!
