About Jorge Chocobar

Jorge Chocobar is a passionate music educator and multi-instrumentalist based in Charleston, South Carolina, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. With over a decade of professional experience and a lifelong immersion in music, Jorge brings a deep, personal connection to every lesson and performance.

Jorge began his musical journey at the age of nine, learning in his local church—a place that shaped not only his musical foundation but also his passion for sharing music with others. By the age of 15, he was already performing professionally, traveling with his father’s music ministry—a mission that has spanned over 40 years. During these tours, Jorge played both saxophone and piano, while also teaching in church settings and eventually offering masterclasses across the country.

He has since performed extensively throughout the United States and internationally, with appearances in Mexico, France, Sweden, Colombia, and Argentina. His global experience brings a unique cultural and stylistic depth to both his teaching and performing.

Jorge also currently serves as a music educator at a private school, where he works with students of varying ages and skill levels. In addition to his classroom teaching, he offers private instruction and masterclasses. He teaches in both English and Spanish, providing an inclusive and accessible environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

Specializing in saxophone and piano, Jorge’s musical versatility spans genres including pop, jazz, Latin jazz, R&B, classical, and Contemporary Christian Music (CCM). He is also an active performer in the Charleston music scene, co-founding and playing with The JP Band, a group known for its dynamic and genre-blending performances.

As a teacher, Jorge is committed to helping students achieve their unique goals—whether it’s performing on stage, joining a band, or simply enjoying music as a creative outlet. His approach is encouraging, personalized, and grounded in real-world musical experience.
