About Joshua Burns

Josh has been playing guitar for 35 years. He started playing professionally when he was 15. When he was 21, he moved to Nashville and started playing in multiple original Rhythm & Blues and Rock bands, and has played in most of the popular R&B clubs in Nashville. At that time, he was in the house band at Exit/In. 

Professional engagements include: a six week European tour with Michael Bohannon. Touring the east coast with Mike Corrado. Played on lower broadway in Nashville for three years.  Opened for Layla Hathaway and Ruben Studdard. Was on “Not Just Country” with Jonathan Winstead. 

Played with Jackie Wilson, a finalist on  American Idol season 10. He also played with Maureen Murphy, a Grammy winning singer. (She played with Zac Brown, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Marcus King, among others). Currently, Josh is playing with Mike Corrado, and opened for John Mayer. 

Josh started teaching 12 years ago. He has studied jazz and theory, and has experienced lots of different styles by playing out.

Lessons are uniquely catered to each individual student with a very hands on approach involving technique, theory, ear training, improvisation and rhythm.
