About Joshua Melendez

Education: BM in Music Education State University of New York at Fredonia (2014-2019)

Performance Experience: I've performed in a variety of settings on my primary instrument (Trombone). I've played in Orchestras, Concert Bands, Smaller Chamber Ensembles (like trombone quartets or brass quintet's), Jazz Bands, and Rock Bands. I think this wide variety of musical experience has allowed me to find a great appreciation for all styles and genres.

Teaching Experience: Permanent Music/Art Substitute for North Babylon School District (2022-Present) Band Teacher Leave Replacement for Anne Hutchinson and Greenvale Elementary Schools (01/22-02/22)

Teaching Philosophy: I want you to leave our time together with the knowledge, know how, and tools to be a life long participant in music. If you want to join a community band, I want you to have the proficiency to join in. If you want to start creating music, I want to give you the skills to start. If you never touch another instrument after this, I want you to be able to listen to the radio and appreciate and understand what you hear. I want you to be able to share in the joy of music and all of its aspects.
