About Karla Utterback
Get to know Karla Utterback
Karla Utterback has been a private clarinet,
saxophone, and beginning piano instructor since 1977 and has served as a judge
for various state and local competitions as well as serving as a clinician in
Georgia and the Midwest. She has performed with many groups including
orchestras, concert bands, musicals, wind symphonies, marching bands, jazz
ensembles, woodwind ensembles, clarinet choirs, worship teams, and as a
soloist. She has also served as a director for various woodwind ensembles,
clarinet choirs, worship teams, and private school music programs. Karla
studied music at Truman State University, William Penn University, University
of North Georgia, Brenau University, and studied privately with Mr. Himie
Voxman from the University of Iowa. As an instructor, Ms. Utterback provides
her students an opportunity to learn new skills on their instrument, proper
breath support, technical and stylistic studies, practice techniques, related
theory, recital preparation, performance opportunities, related music
appreciation, sight-reading, and a large dose of encouragement and enthusiasm for
the success of her students!
