About Kathryn Scherer

My name is Kathryn Scherer and music has always been an important part of my life. I began piano lessons at 8 years old, and continued into adulthood. I love music; I also have studied the organ and am currently a student of the violin.  As a result of my love for music, and the desire to be the best possible teacher, I have a masters in music, with an emphasis in piano pedagogy. Because of my husband’s career in the USAF, I’ve had interesting study opportunities. As a classically trained pianist, it was very exciting to take lessons while living in Germany for 3 years, and while living in England for 2 years. Living in many different U.S. regions, as well as 4 other countries has given me a greater appreciation for different cultures and the types of music expressed in each culture. Even with regular Air Force moves, I was able to continue teaching piano. I have recently returned to the United States after living in the Republic of Georgia for 3.5 years. While there, I taught English as a Second Language, as well as piano. I’m excited to be back in the United States, and teaching at Music and Arts.
