About Kristine Dubyn

Kristine Dougherty Dubyn is a flute and piccolo teacher who works with beginner to advanced students, creating lessons that balance expert instruction with a supportive and enjoyable learning environment. Her lessons focus on tone development, technique, sight reading, vibrato, phrasing, dynamic control, musicianship, and performance skills while helping students develop confidence and artistic expression at their own pace. Kristine specializes in classical flute performance and incorporates theory, historical performance practices, and advanced techniques such as double and triple tonguing into lessons tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. Whether preparing for recitals, auditions, school programs, ensembles, or personal enjoyment, students receive individualized guidance designed to make the musical journey both rewarding and fun. Kristine holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance from Mannes College of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts, and has been teaching and performing professionally for over 36 years.
