About Lee Mire

Get to know Lee Mire
Lee Mire is a percussionist located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was born in Baton Rouge and started playing percussion at the age of 13. It was during his junior year of high school though, when he picked up kit and discovered his true passion for teaching and playing music from LSU alumni Cameron Robillard. Not long after this, lessons from a wide variety of teachers and players such as Michael Brothers (director of jazz studies at SELU, alumni of Loyola and Northwestern University, notable player and educator), Zack Graybeal (notable drum set player and educator), and Aaron Spink (head of drum set education at Yamaha Canada, alumni of Humber Polytechnic) were and are still taken by Lee.
Lee continues to play now with multiple school ensembles at Southeastern Louisiana University such as the percussion ensemble, wind symphony, symphonic band, pep band, drumline, advanced jazz combo, and jazz lab band. He also performs with more local bands such as the William Barber quartet, where he gigs around Louisiana playing jazz, funk, latin, and many other genres.
