Performance Experience:
Leigh has performed for years with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra, but has also played with the Philadelphia String Quartet, ENA ensemble, and has attended festivals in North Carolina, New York, and Sicily.
Teaching Experience:
Leigh has taught privately since 2014, and has taught various classes for the Community Music Scholars Program at Temple University and Play on Philly.
Teaching Philosophy:
Learning how to listen is a skill that is vital not only in musicianship but also in our modern society. My goal is to teach any and every student how to process what they hear from others and from themselves and transform it into music.
Get to know Leigh Brown
Leigh Brown is a cello teacher who works with beginner to advanced students, helping them build confidence, technique, and independence through thoughtful and personalized instruction. Lessons begin with scales and exercises before moving into solo repertoire, music theory, and musical interpretation, primarily through classical music with some pop and jazz influences. Leigh believes learning cello is a gradual and personal process, encouraging students to discover what works best for their individual learning style and physical comfort. Leigh holds both a B.M. and M.M. in Cello Performance from Temple University and has over 10 years of private teaching experience along with extensive orchestral performance experience.
