Performance Experience: Leigh has performed for years with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra, but has also played with the Philadelphia String Quartet, ENA ensemble, and has attended festivals in North Carolina, New York, and Sicily.
Teaching Experience: Leigh has taught privately since 2014, and has taught various classes for the Community Music Scholars Program at Temple University and Play on Philly.
Teaching Philosophy: Learning how to listen is a skill that is vital not only in musicianship but also in our modern society. My goal is to teach any and every student how to process what they hear from others and from themselves and transform it into music.
Get to know Leigh Brown
Leigh Brown (they/them) is a versatile and multifaceted cellist based out of Philadelphia, PA. A recent graduate of the Esther Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, they have played and performed with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra at the Kimmel Center’s soon-to-be Marian Anderson Hall, Rose Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York, and have recorded multiple world premieres with Temple, one of which received a Grammy nomination. They are an advocate for new and forgotten music, and are passionate about incorporating interdisciplinary art forms into performance. Leigh lives in South Philly with their husband and two cats.
