Teaching Philosophy: My approach to teaching is deeply rooted in the Ignatian principle of service. I believe in giving more of myself to serve others better. Central to my teaching style is leadership, passion, and enthusiasm. I lead by example, demonstrating dedication and excellence in my craft. My passion for music is contagious, inspiring my students to discover their own love for the trumpet and music.
Get to know Leonardo Salinas
Leonardo Barrios is a Colombian trumpet player, who began his musical journey at the age of 16. He studied trumpet at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2014 under the tutelage of the renowned master Daniel Crespo. He was also a member of the Chia symphonic band that placed second in the World Music Competition (WMC) in Kerkrade, Holland.
He has taken master classes from masters including Yvonne Toll, Eric Aubier, Jens Lindemann, Bobby Shew, Paul Merkelo, Marc Zwingelberg, and Pacho Flores. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia. Currently, he is pursuing a master's degree at Georgia State University under the tutelage of renowned trumpet player Dr. Alexander Freund.
