Luke Ashworth is a bassoonist hailing from Bristol, Connecticut, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance and Music Education at The Hartt School. Guided by the esteemed Marc Goldberg, Luke has diligently honed his skills, striving to become a well-rounded musician in his field.
Luke's passion for music education drives him to explore innovative pedagogical approaches, always seeking to enhance his teaching abilities. Over the course of seven years, he has had the privilege of instructing students of various ages, sharing his love for music and guiding them on their own musical journeys. Luke takes great care to ensure that his lessons align with his students' classroom curricula, providing a seamless and enriching learning experience.
Throughout his musical journey, Luke has had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned orchestras and ensembles in the region. Notably, he has performed alongside esteemed groups such as the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra and West Harford Symphony Orchestra. These experiences have allowed him to grow as a musician and develop versatility and artistry in his playing. Luke has also had the pleasure to be a part of several NAXOS recordings through the Hartt Wind Ensemble, including commission works of Shuyin Li and Jess Turner.
Beyond his performance and teaching endeavors, Luke nurtures a profound passion for music history. As he pursues a music history minor alongside his studies at Hartt, he delves into the intricate nuances of French impressionistic and late romantic music. Luke's exploration of music history enriches his interpretations and performances, adhering to critical performance practice techniques in order to create a more authentic interpretation.
