About Lynne Cunningham

Get to know Lynne Cunningham
I received my BA in Music Therapy with a minor in Piano Performance from Arizona State University in 1976. Since receiving my BA, I taught piano privately for 25 years between 1976 and 2005. After a brief period of retirement, I began teaching again in 2023.
There are many different kinds of performances I have been involved with. From the late 1970’s to the mid-1990’s I played the piano/organ for wedding ceremonies and receptions as well as Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. Additionally, I performed as an accompanist for Solo & Ensemble for band students in multiple school districts during the 1980’s through the mid-1990’s. Finally, I have played the piano for church services, choirs and praise teams/ensembles. I sing and play special songs for offertories, and altar services.
My philosophy is getting to know the students and parents/caregivers as soon as possible and find out their level and what kind or kinds of music they really want to play. I want to let them have fun playing/picking out songs according to age, level and interest.
Singing/playing instruments is therapeutic in many ways. Whether music is being pursued as a hobby or for serious study, I believe the arts in general are very important for all.
