About Manuel Hernandez

Manny Hernandez began playing in the band at Landstown Middle School in 1995 where he played trumpet and French horn. He was the first drum major at Landstown High since the school opened. After graduating in 2002, he joined the 380^th Army Reserve Band where is played for 12 years. In 2019, Manny graduated from Norfolk State University with a degree in Music Education. While at NSU, he was part of the marching band, jazz band, and wind ensemble. He was also the high brass tech for the Spartan Legion Marching Band in 2018 and was the featured soloist for the Homecoming Show.

As a performer, he played at Busch Gardens in 2011 and was part of Live on Atlantic All-Star Band as a student performer from 2000-2002 and as a music supervisor from 2012-2019. He has been teaching marching band at local Virginia Beach schools since 2004 and private lessons since 2007.

Currently, Manny is the Orchestra Director at Princess Anne Middle School and is the trumpet player for local band J and the Band.
