Education:
After graduating in 2002, he joined the 380th Army Reserve Band where is played for 12 years. In 2019, Manny graduated from Norfolk State University with a degree in Music Education.
Performance Experience:
As a performer, he played at Busch Gardens in 2011 and was part of Live on Atlantic All-Star Band as a student performer from 2000-2002 and as a music supervisor from 2012-2019.
While at NSU, he was part of the marching band, jazz band, and wind ensemble. He was also the high brass tech for the Spartan Legion Marching Band in 2018 and was the featured soloist for the Homecoming Show.
Teaching Experience:
Currently, Manny is the Orchestra Director at Princess Anne Middle School and is the trumpet player for local band J and the Band.
Teaching Philosophy:
Manny wants to spread the love of music to the next generation.

Manny Hernandez teaches beginner to advanced brass. His fun, relaxed, creative, and high-energy lessons balance technique, musicianship, and enjoyment while adapting to each student's pace, interests, and goals. Students develop improvisation, music theory, and music reading through practical exercises and engaging repertoire. Manny emphasizes confidence and enjoyment and encourages students to become thoughtful and increasingly-independent musicians. He supports preparation for recitals, auditions, and All-State ensembles, as well as music-making for personal fulfillment. Manny brings professional certification to his teaching, with a degree in Music Education from Norfolk State University.
