About Mason Filio
Get to know Mason Filio
I was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia where I started lessons at the age of 4, learning to write music at the age of 6, and learning how to use Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) at 12 starting with FL Studio and Ableton. In high school, I attended The Governor's School for the Arts in Norfolk, Virginia, studying intensive applied music theory and Jazz piano under Justin Kauflin. At the same time, I was teaching piano lessons to children, peers, and young adults, specializing in students with learning disabilities. Justin became a mentor who guided me through the use of Logic Pro and an internship through him at Early Hour Entertainment, formerly Quincy Jones Productions. My freshman year at Morehouse College as a Music Composition Major, I began a mentorship program under Justiin "Henny Tha Bizness" Henerson and Kennard Garrett, where I gained more knowledge on audio engineering. While currently a member of the Morehouse College Glee Club, I also formed my own collective and publishing company known as Fusion Arts Collective. As a current student I understand how difficult it may be to learn with a learning disability, in order to overcome this difficulty, your instructor should know what it is like to be in your shoes. I would not be here without a teacher who felt the same about me. Feel free to reach out with any questions! Much Love.
