About Matt Brown

Matt Brown is a graduate of Montclair State University with a degree in music theory and composition.

He has taught private music lessons for the past 13 years aside from one year spent living abroad in Australia.

He has performed in multiple rock bands around the east coast and, since his return to the US, is writing and recording under the name Hasty Patience.

One notable former project of his is Homeless Apians, a rock trio who played and recorded only instruments constructed by the band’s members.  They were featured in a special on News12 New Jersey.  It is not uncommon for Matt’s lessons to be taught from his own home-built guitar.

Matt specializes in rock, blues, beginner jazz, beginner classical, tapping, finger-style on both acoustic and electrics, and loves to discuss and teach about electric guitar gear!
