      Performance Experience: Matthew has performed as principal bassoon of the University of Arizona Wind Ensemble, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Classical Symphony Orchestra, Protege Philharmonic Orchestra, and the University of Illinois at Chicago Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. He is a bassoon/contrabassoon with the Arizona Symphony Orchestra Matthew has performed two solo recitals, a concerto with the White Mountain Symphony Orchestra as the Winner of the WMSO Solo Competition.
      Teaching Experience: Matthew has taught private lessons for over 12 years and has taught masterclasses with Honor Bands and youth wind ensemble programs. Matthew actively teaches bassoon reed making with students from high school to Collegiate levels.
      Teaching Philosophy: My philosophy in teaching focuses on the student learning and growing in a way that is fun and meaningful. I strive to create a learning environment that revolves around each individual student to instill mechanisms for students to continue to grow through practice and experience.

      Get to know Matt Dutczak

      Matthew Dutczak is a bassoonist, reed maker, conductor, and educator. Currently a student at the University of Arizona, Matthew is the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Bassoon Studio as well as the Manager of the Fred Fox Graduate Wind Quintet, and internationally known ensemble. While studying at the University of Arizona, he held the position of principle bassoon of the Wind Ensemble and Auxiliary bassoon/contrabassoon of the Arizona Symphony Orchestra. Matthew has over 15 years of experience with Woodwind Instruments.

      He has performed with the University of Illinois Wind Ensemble, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) Wind Ensemble, UWM Symphony Orchestra, University of Arizona Wind Ensemble, Arizona Symphony Orchestra, White Mountain Symphony Orchestra, and Classical Symphony Orchestra. Matthew has taught masterclasses with the University of Illinois Honor band, UWAY, and reed making masterclasses.  

      Matthew was the 2022 White Mountain Symphony Orchestra Solo Competition winner and has also performed at the national level with the Marian Catholic High School Marching Band.
