Education: Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance at Texas Wesleyan University
Performance Experience: 10+ years of performance experience in diverse music settings, including local, national, and international touring acts at local venues, classical performances with a community orchestra, and contract gigs with local organizations for holiday events.
Teaching Experience: Experience with assisting directors and instructors in guidance of section members. Guiding fellow musicians in performance and composition creation in ensemble settings.
Teaching Philosophy: Learning music should be a fun and enlightening experience into the inner workings of the music world, from the overall mechanics of an instrument to the compositional construction of your favorite songs.
Get to know Matt Harvey
Beginning with Double Bass and Electric Bass in 5th grade, my journey with music began in the AISD Music Program at Miller Elementary and expanded through Young Middle School and Martin High School, under direction of Jennifer Lemin in the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Studies with Dr. Greg Dewhirst in Jazz Improvisation and Tom Connely in Orchestral Performance at Tarrant County College Southeast Campus.
Studies with Ms. Nini Rubiano in Double Bass Performance and Mr. Lou Carfa in Jazz Bass Improvisation and Technique at Texas Wesleyan University.
Member of the Northeast Orchestra and the Texas Chamber Music Project of Hurst, TX.
Local Artist in Various Ensembles performing at Local Venues.
