Education: Privately taught by bill meritt for 6 years and afterwards took private lessons which included a Berkeley college of music curriculum for 2 years. I also have an orchestral background being in central regional high schools orchestra during my tenure during high school
Performance Experience: I have played orchestra with my high school throughout my time at central regional high school, during that time I had a hard core punk band that played venues across the state including the stone pony, the Brighton bar, the saint, band the creative space. I am currently in a surf rock band which plays across New Jersey and the surrounding states
Teaching Experience: Teaching privately for 2 years with people of all ages
Teaching Philosophy: Making music engaging from the start and making the students learn theory in an understanding way through songs or writing their own songs
Get to know Matt King
I've been playing since the age of 12. Anything including guitar and bass i have an extreme interest in such as an extensive vintage and boutique gear even to the extent of building guitars. I also played in a hardcore punk band throughout my time in high school playing such venues as the stone pony, The saint, The Brighton bar , Crossroads, and many more. Currently I play in a surf rock band which plays all of New Jersey and the surrounding states. My influences range from Frank Zappa to Black flag.
