Get to know Matthew Gooding
Matthew has been a violinist for over 20 years. He started his music education at The Shawmont elementary school where he started the violin at the age of 9. He too to the violin and music very quickly and soon was a High School violin student at the High School for Creative and Performing arts. While attending high school, Matthew participated in not on the All Philadelphia High School Orchestra but All District and all Regional Orchestras. He was able to practice and perform a vast repertoire of music with student artist from Philadelphia, PA and surrounding states. After High School Matthew attended Shenandoah Conservatory where he majored in Music Education and Violin performance. Mathew expanded his solo and ensemble repertoire giving him a vast amount of knowledge in strings and music history. Matthew was able to study with the prestigious Adubon Quartet and the violinist Akemi Takayama and Doris Lederer. The two of them helped vastly to shape Mathews music career and teaching philosophy. After Shenandoah, Matthews studies continued at Temple University where he was able to continue performing and teaching in the Philadelphia region. His performances and teachings allowed him the opportunity to study and work with violin virtuoso David Kim. Matthew is a avid and hungry performing teacher who believes that music is pivotal in creating well adjusted and well balanced people. He is excited for the years to come in both his teaching and performance career
